  • Operation Multiplication Team Update - April 2010

The Operation Multiplication Team continues to meet every other week in an effort to devise and create a process to help assimilate new members into the church family. With our Mission Statement of Connect, Grow, and Serve, it is imperative that we help each new member discover the their place within the wonderful Memorial Family. Our goal through OM is provide four "touches" to every new member. Embedded in OM is also a component to identify regular guests and assist them in discovering the various facets of Memorial with the ultimate goal of seeing them identify as a member with the church.

The current goal is to run a pilot of Operation Multiplication in early summer in either June or July with a fall launch. This pilot will provide training for approximately a dozen people between our two campuses.

Here's a draft summary document about key components of Operation Multiplication.

    Operation Multiplication

Definition of Program: Operation Multiplication is a short-term one-on-one discipleship process for new members and new Christians at Memorial. The objective of Operation Multiplication is to help assimilate new members into the ministry of Memorial Baptist Church. Through this process, we value the importance of members connecting with other members.

Composition of Program: Operation Multiplication functions on several levels. The Team Leader shares responsibility for the overall administration of the program. The Coordinators assist by matching new members with Multipliers. The Multipliers are responsible to help the new members assimilate into a Sunday School Class or Lifegroup and discover a ministry opportunity by which the new member can become involved.

    A. Team Leader Duties: Shares in the responsibility for the overall administration of the program.

    B. Coordinators Duties: Responsible for greeting new members upon decision. The Coordinator will help identify a Multiplier for the new member. The Coordinator should keep in mind life stage, interests, and background when recommending a Multiplier. It is recommended that at least four individuals serve as Coordinators.

    C. Multipliers Duties: Shares in the responsibility for assimilating new members at Memorial Baptist Church. Multipliers are trained in church structure, ministry and team options, upcoming happening and events, and various church functions. Multipliers will assist new members in identifying a Sunday School/ Small Group, assist in discovering a place for ministry involvement, and assist in creating important connects within the framework of the church. It is recommended that at least fifteen individuals serve as Coordinators.

Definition of the Result: Operation Multiplication is a process that assures that each new member receives multiple connects as they first join the Church. These first four connects are: Coordinator, Multiplier, Sunday School Representative, and Deacon.

  • Evaluation Group Meeting on February 4, 2010

The team met for approximately one hour with the following agenda. First, they looked at Team Organization. This included identifying leadership roles and assignments. Second, they looked at work schedule and decided to meet every other week in the initial phase of this project. Third, the team looked at a communication system in addition to adopting a meeting and work documentation plan. Fourth, the team looked at evaluation efforts by prioritizing programs, events, and organizations for an evaluation strategy. Lastly, they discussed various tools and techniques to use for evaluation purposes. The next Evaluation Group meeting is Thursday, February 18 at 6:30p. For additional information regarding the Evaluation Group, you contact Bill Nethery.

  • The Evaluation Group Meeting

The Evaluation Group met for the first time last night. The meeting was great. We had great participation and involvement from those who attended. There was a good representation from both campuses. The next steps involve some further study into evaluation processes used both in the corporate and non-profit sectors. Our next meeting will be Thursday, February 4, 2010. We'll meet at 6:30p in Adult 7 on the Sterling Campus.

  • Operation Multiplication's First Meeting

The group for Operation Multiplication (OM) met this past Sunday evening. I'm excited about the enthusiasm and interest on the part of those who attended the first meeting. Please note, even if you were unavailable to be present for the first meeting, you can jump in at any time and participate in subsequent meetings. We discussed the importance of helping new members and new believers assimilate (connect) with others in the church. What are some ways in which we can do this? We talked about the importance of keeping watch on the "back door" of the church as well as the "front door". We want to make sure that people are effectively connected in ministry and service within Memorial, too. Our first assignment as a group was to review some current and available materials specific to helping people connect in the church. Additionally, everyone will be reading the book Sticky Church by Larry Osborne as a way of facilitating discussion about connecting.

  • First Priorities

Thanks for checking out the Strategic Plan Update Section of the website. As you review the 2010-12 Strategic Plan Diagram, you will discover five goals. Goal One and Goal Four are the priorities for implementation. We will be working on Standardization, Evaluation Process, and Training Central IMMEDIATELY. Secondly, we will be working towards commencing Operation Multiplication in early 2010.

Standardization refers to the standardization of policies, guidelines, and records for all committees, ministries, and teams of Memorial Baptist Church. This includes procedural protocols, record keeping, and enhanced continuity of previous decisions. Every committee, team, and ministry will have a policy notebook complete with various tools to enhance the effectiveness of the organization.

Evaluation Process refers to the implementation of a standardized evaluation process for the various committees, teams, and ministries of Memorial Baptist Church. This formalized structure will assist us in the pursuit of excellence.

Training Central is a philosophy and practice to equip leadership and volunteers with the various tools, information, and resources for competent, consistent, and excellent ministry. We want every volunteer to serve with confidence when they serve through the ministry of Memorial Baptist Church.

Operation Multiplication is our one-on-one discipleship and mentoring ministry for every new member and new believer at Memorial Baptist Church.

    This is where we start!
